Psychodynamic Therapy

It’s often the links that live deepest inside of us that end up running our lives. Maybe the loss of a parent that made trust feel too risky. Or the unspoken rule that to be loved you had to be tough or well-behaved or self-sufficient or everyone’s caregiver etc.

The most fundamental thing we can do for ourselves is to make sense of ourselves. That means revisiting the gravity of our bonds. Who we love and how we love (or don’t let ourselves love). It means letting our dilemmas teach us about what we really believe instead of what we think we should believe.

In therapy, we start with where you started, how you grew up and with who, whose care and attachment helped grow your nervous system.. Our stories are long and cumulative. Our problems and strengths and superpowers are too. I work to follow the threads of your life, see and feel where they’ve tangled and most importantly, why. There is always a why. Once we find the knots, we can begin to unravel ithem.
